HAPPY BIRTHDAY KALE!!!

Kale had his is fifth birthday this last week. It was a little bitter sweet. He was so cute and so excited for it to be his birthday. This is the first year that I really felt like he understood it was his birthday so I wanted to make it really special. But he's my little boy and is not supposed to be growing up so fast.

So Sunday night I asked him what kind of cake he wanted and he says, "A chocolate dinosaur cake" I guess he wanted a chocolate cake with chocolate chips on it. I don't know where he came up with that. Later he decided it had to be a T-rex cake. So I searched the net for some idea and found a couple but they were not T-rex and he didn't want them. I went to my mom's and we started looking through her cake decorating books and found this pan and we showed him and he said that was what he wanted. So I called a lady in the ward and she had it. She seriously saved me because he was very adiment about having a T-rex. This is my first real attempt at decorating a cake and I had so much fun!! I let Kale choose what colors he wanted where so that is why it is a little interesting. But he loved it and that's why I did it!

We let him cut the cake himself. Some pieces were really big and some were not so big. Luckily they all taste the same. :)

Clint got me a new video camera and now I am so excited about it I didn't get any other pictures of him opening presents. He loved everything this year. He played with everything he got that night for at least ten minutes each. He usually is more excited about one or two things and ignores the rest but not this year.

He is such a sweet heart. I love him so much. I don't know what I would do without him. I know Heavenly Father knew he was supposed to come to me. I feel so blessed.

Cabin Fever....Maybe Just A Little

The other day Grandpa Lloyd was outside burning a fire. I'm not really sure why. I went looking for my kids and they were out there no shoes and no coats, but I figured they must not be cold so I let them just stay. A little while later I had to run up the street to get some things from a lady in the ward and they were both heading inside. Darcy says, "Mom we need madamadas." So I am racking my brain trying to figure out what in the world she was trying to say. Luckily, Kale came and said, "Mom we need marshmellows. The fire is smoking and its the perfect time to burn marshmellows." I figured Grandpa had told them to come in and get some so we got them some marshmellows and shoes and coats and I sent them back outside. But I decided I needed some pictures.

So when I got out there this is what I found. Kale using a branch off of a dead pine tree for his roasting stick and no Grandpa. It was apparently their own idea because Lloyd was down on the farm feeding cows. And as you can see there is still snow. It was actually really cold.

Darcy didn't want to roast her marshmellows, she just wanted to eat them straight out of the bag

From this picture you can see there was no more fire. It was just smoking so I think all he got was smoke flavored marshmellows. Oh well at least I didn't have to worry about them catching on fire.

When I got home this is where I found them. Grandpa Lloyd had come home and I think he must have felt bad for their attempts to roast the marshmellows so he brought them in and they roasted their marshmellows over the stove. The funniest part about that was when they would get brown Kale wouldn't eat them. He just wanted to warm them up a little I guess. They are too cute!! They have been spending so much time outside. I don't think they can stand being in the house any longer. Thank goodness most of the mud is gone so I don't have little mudballs when they are done playing outside.

FINALLY!!

So right after I finished my last post, Darcy decided she would start using the potty. She still is not perfect especially if she goes to Grandma Peggy's house. But if we are at home or even if we go somewhere else she does good. We have only had a couple of accidents in the last week. I bought her some stickers as a prize for going and this is what she did with the first one. Actually that was about the only time she wanted a sticker the rest of the time she wants candy. I am so happy that she is finally doing it!!

Aren't they so sweet. I think Wyatt was starting to fuss because he wanted out of his bed so Darcy was loving him. I didn't get my camera fast enough to get one of them kissing which was even cuter.

While we were finishing up Kale's Valentines for his class Wyatt and Darcy kept trying to eat the suckers that we were trying to tape to the Valentines. So I decided they could all have one, they just had to sit in the kitchen to eat them. Kale was so cute with his Valentines. I let him pick them out and what kind of treat he wanted to give too. He wrote his name on all of them all by himself. I was going to have him write his friends' names too but his hand was getting tired after writing his name. He also gave them to everyone in the family.

Happy Valentines Day to Daddy. On Valentines day Grandma Kalynn was driving down the road and hit this pheasant. She called Clint and he hurried to go pick it. He was so excited about how big and pretty it was. I was actually at my mom and dad's so he called me to come so we could get this picture with Kale. You can't tell in the picture but it is almost as big as Kale. Clint said it was one of the biggest, prettiest pheasants he has ever seen. So even if he hadn't gotten a Valentine from me I think this would have been enough. Well maybe not. But if he had shot it himself it would have been.

Fun Things We've Done

Here's Wyatt walking, FINALLY. He walks most of the time now. The only time he crawls is when he has fallen down and needs to get to something that he can pull up on. He can actually stand up in the middle of the floor, I watched him do it twice in less than five minutes. He just doesn't know it yet.

This is Lloyd's 50 birthday party. Clint gathered up most of the helium balloons and tied them together for Wyatt to play with. Wyatt would pull them down around him and then let them go. He had so much fun. That other little hand on the side is Courtney, she wanted to play too but Wyatt did not want to share.

Here's him letting them go and Courtney trying to catch them.

The balloons got wrapped around his middle so he crawled around with them. He thought that was pretty cool. Obviously this was before he decided he could walk everywhere.

Kale and Darcy love to snuggle up with Clint. They would sleep in our bed every night if we would let them.

We took the kids to the circus the other night. They didn't like it as much as I thought they would. They were bored before half time.... intermission.... whatever they call it at the circus.

Here is Kale the one time that I think he was actually entertained. I am not good at explaining things otherwise I would tell you what was going on. It was Clint and my favorite part of the whole thing. I asked Kale after what his favorite part was and he said the lions and tigers. But I don't think he really even paid attention to them. He was more interested in the whip he got.

Things are going really good for us. Kale just keeps getting bigger and bigger. He's such a sweet heart and I love him so much. He always has to give hugs and kisses before you leave. He generally cries when I leave him too. I love it, he makes me feel good about myself. He is counting down days until his birthday. For a few days he could remember how many were left without asking but the last few he has to ask.

Darcy still refuses to potty train. I thought that girls were supposed to be easier than boys. She has such mind of her own. It wouldn't be so bad if she totally didn't get it but she does she just won't do it! AH! She is also saying all sorts of cute things lately. I am always laughing at how so darn cute she is. This isn't the best example but the other day she asked me if we could go to Grandma Peggy's house I told her maybe later and she said, "Maybe tomorrow huh Mom?"

Like I said earlier Wyatt is finally walking. Hallelujah! He has master "bye-bye" and "more" and he can say mom and dad and uh-oh but just won't. I don't know how I got children that are so stubborn. He loves to give kisses too. He's such a doll.

I seriously think that I got the best kids in the world. We have our days but I really just love them and don't know what I would do without them.

The house is coming along. I am crossing my fingers that it will be done by the end of the month. But that is probably wishful thinking. There really isn't that much left to do...other than tile which is so time consuming but all Clint has left with that is grout and he has to do the showers. Speaking of the house I have one more picture.

Now that you see the picture I am sure you are wondering what this has to do with the house right? Well, we took Wyatt's play pen over to the house so he could nap while I painted. I forgot to bring it back and I can rarely get him to sleep if he's not in his bed or in the car. I had been fighting to get him to go to sleep all afternoon and then I saw the laundry basket and wondered if it would work. I put a pillow in the bottom and gave him his bottle to keep him occupied for a while. To my surprise, it actually worked!! His poor little legs were pretty cramped but hey it worked and he was so much happier when he woke up.

Sorry I know this is getting long but this is the last thing for today. As I am getting ready to finish this up Darcy comes to me "Mom, I have to go pee." And she goes in the potty! I swear! Oh well I guess I just need to be greatful any time she goes right?

Bitter Sweet First Doctor's Appointment

I had my first doctor's appointment for Barton baby #4 today. There is some good news and some not so good news. First good news, I am actually pregnant. Clint kept teasing me that it was all in my head and that I am not actually pregnant. First bad news, no twins. I know to most people that is good news but I really do want them. Second bad news, because I got pregnant so soon after nursing my doctor won't use the first day of my period to go off of. So he did an ultrasound and the date off of that is September 1. :( That pushes the date back eight days!! Those of you who have had babies can sympathize. The last few weeks feel like FOREVER! Oh well what do you do? Second good news, the baby's heart was "jumping around" Dr. Griffith said that you don't have to worry about the baby when its heart looks like that. That made me very happy. It is always nice to know that everything looks good. Now we are just anxiously awaiting the ultrasound at the first of April when we can find out the gender! We have a bet, Clint thinks it is a boy and I am pretty sure it is a girl. I was right on both Kale and Darcy. Wyatt I had no idea what he was. So, we will see.

So this is Baby Barton #4's first picture. The doctor said the baby is only about two centimeters long right now. I know it just kind of looks like a little blob. But to the left is baby's head and to the right baby's bum. When he first started the ultrasound you could see the legs but when he took the picture you couldn't. :( Clint's sister's want a name to call baby until we come up with a name so if anyone has a good name let me know.
